What You Can Expect
At Your First Appointment:
When you come in for your appointment you will always be greeted by our friendly front office team. If you have never been to our office before then we will have you fill out some paperwork, providing us with your intake history. You won’t wait long before our audiologist brings you back for your appointment.
- To begin your appointment our audiologist will go over the paperwork you filled out while waiting. We will discuss your intake history and talk about what brought you in, where you are having trouble hearing, and what your expectations are.
- After our conversation then we will perform an otoscopic exam. We will look inside your ears to ensure there is no earwax build-up (if there is, we can remove that in-office) and make sure we can see the eardrum.
- After the otoscope exam then we will check your ear pressure (tympanometry).
- Then we will begin the audiometry part of the hearing test. We will test your ability to hear different tones and frequencies, as well as air and bone testing and a speech test.
- After we’ve tested your hearing then we will explain the results of your audiogram. If you would like to see a pair of hearing aids, we can show you them in-office and let you try them on. If you decide to move forward with hearing aids, we will order the devices and schedule you for your fitting appointment.
Preferred Provider for the NFL Players Association
BrightHear is a preferred hearing care provider for the NFL Players Association Professional Athletes Foundation. Through this partnership, the PAF aims to bring better hearing to former professional athletes and their fans across the nation. Together, we spread awareness, help players in need of hearing care, and collected data on the connection between hearing loss and professional football.
